Government Acts Swiftly to Evacuate Nationals from Sudan amidst Ongoing Conflict

The Ghanaian government has taken swift action to evacuate its nationals from Sudan amidst the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which has resulted in the loss of many civilian lives in the capital city of Khartoum.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Honorary Consulate of Ghana in Khartoum has confirmed the safety of all Ghanaian nationals in the country. However, due to the conflict, the government has initiated plans to evacuate its citizens.

The Ghana Embassy in Cairo, which is concurrently accredited to Sudan, is working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the Honorary Consulate to ensure the safe evacuation of Ghanaian nationals. Arrangements are being made to secure their safe passage to Ethiopia.

The government has reassured the families and acquaintances of Ghanaians in Sudan that it is doing everything possible to ensure their safety. It has joined the international community in appealing to the warring factions to cease the fighting and allow negotiations to resume for the sake of peace and the safety of all people in Sudan.
